I'm a book editor who specializes in line editing, copy editing, and proofreading, and I work on almost all fiction, nonfiction, and children's books. I have helped authors take their books from rough drafts to best sellers.
What do I do?
I check every word of your manuscript, ensuring accuracy in spelling, punctuation, grammar, word choice, tenses, sentence structure, parallel structure, clarity, and subject-verb agreement. I eliminate or alert you to wordiness and redundant words, and I make sure that your voice and tone are appropriate for your intended audience. I also check illustrations, graphs, and captions in nonfiction works, and I make sure all of the technical aspects of your book are in order. I also alert you to possible legal issues.
I always maintain a style sheet to help maintain absolute consistency. (We want to make sure your 25-year-old fiery redhead doesn't somehow become a 19-year-old blonde without a trip to the salon and a time machine.)
You will never have to worry about your author "voice" changing after my editing process. Your words are your words. Your style is your style. I won't take that away from you. My goal is to simply clean up your manuscript to make your work the best it can be.
I also offer full editing services on the following: stories, magazine and newspaper articles, press releases, newsletters, sales letters, brochures and fliers, business plans, website content, academic essays, and resumes.
I'm also a self-help and fiction writer and the author of two children's books, Tree Soldier and If Animals Could Wish.
